Irvin to seek House seat

Christopher James Irvin of Toccoa has announced his candidacy for state representative in the 28th House District which includes Stephens County, Banks County and a portion of Franklin County.

A lifelong resident of the 28th District, Irvin is a graduate of Stephens County High School and attended Limestone College and Clemson University prior to entering private business.

He is a licensed building contractor and said he will make education and jobs his emphasis together with "bringing down the ever increasing unemployment rate and taxes and other fees which have occurred under our present leadership."

Irvin said he will seek election as an "independent Democrat."

This is the first foray into politics for Irvin who is the son of Stephens County State Court Judge James Irvin and grandson of longtime Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture Tommy Irvin.

Chris Irvin said he "looks forward to meeting with the citizens of District 28 and hearing their concerns and ideas on restoring the type of government they deserve."

The District 28 incumbent, Michael Harden, a Republican, has already announced he will seek re-election.
